About

Melanie Reidy is an experienced art photographer. Prior to this she worked on a wide range of graphic design projects over a ten year period with Irish Mozambique Solidarity. She has exhibited in two of the National College of Art and Design night class exhibitions in the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin and is a graduate of the City and Guilds photography course in Griffith College Dublin. She is originally from Malahide and now lives in the Portobello area of Dublin.

Melanie has hosted three solo exhibitions. ‘Matizar’, her first, was held in Havana Tapas Bar in Dublin. This was a series of abstract still-life colour photographs combining a rich mix of tones and textures. This was followed by ‘Water Woods’, which was held in the Farnham Arts Centre in Cavan. These hand printed black and white photographs capture a dramatic range of abstract images inspired by the flooded forests and lakes of Killykeen Forest Park in County Cavan. Her most recent exhibition, ‘Where There is Water’ was held in Tiesan Cafe in Dublin. Close-up and graphic in style, the sea, river and canal provide a background for photographs that emerge as striking shapes and blocks of colour.
